Will Call of Duty WWII Save the World? - Video Game

Call of Duty is arguably the one of the most popular game franchise throughout the world but over the years Call of Duty has deviated further away from the gameplay elements that make it great which have resulted in a lot of backlash from the fans. After Call of Duty: Black ops II, Call of Duty games kept on becoming more sci-fi rather than about actual combat and quite frankly most new games felt like a sci-fi shooter rather than Call of Duty games fans had come to love.

Activision has taken Call of Duty games back to the roots in hopes to save the dying franchise which means that no more robots, jet packs or outer space combat. But after all the damage that has been done to the franchise can Call of Duty WWII save the series?
 Call Of Duty WWII

How Did It Come To This?

The worst point of the franchise definitely came from Infinity Ward that completely converted the game into a Crysis-esque space shooter. Needless to say, that wasn’t what any fan of the franchise wanted which resulted in Call of Duty Infinite Warfare having the second most disliked reveal trailer on YouTube.  After years of disappointment, fans expect Call of Duty World War II to deliver the “boots on ground” combat that made them fall in love with the franchise rather than more sci-fi outer space combat. Call of Duty Infinite Warfare also had 50% less sales than Call of Duty: Black Ops III which wasn’t that good either. Everything Activision has done has gone against what the players have wanted giving rise to a lot of doubt to whether Call of Duty WWII be different.

The final blow came from the immense success Battlefield 1 had thanks to it “staying on the ground” and delivering an exciting, realistic and gore-filled depiction of World War 1 which fans loved. The success of battlefield 1 coupled with the extremely bad feedback and sales seem to have finally put Activision on the right track but is it too late?

Will Call of Duty WWII Save The Franchise?

Fans – including us  – are expecting a lot from Call of Duty WWII and Activision doesn’t have enough space to mess up anymore.  Call of Duty WWII is either going to bring the series back to life or bury it once and for all. From the trailers and bits of online gameplay, as of now, we can only assume that Call of Duty WWII will have a narrative driven story campaign and a much larger multiplayer experience than any other Call of Duty game.

The campaign looks grittier, violent and hopefully will be an accurate depiction of World War II delivering more depth than generic FPS games. Activision has also added in an entirely new co-op zombie’s campaign that is sure to bring some fans the franchise has lost over the years. Can Call of Duty WWII save the franchise? Considering Activision is finally listening to the fans and giving them the game they want, Call of Duty WWII has everything that it needs to make a great Call of Duty game.

Call of Duty WWII will be at E3 2017 and we’ll keep you updated with all Call of Duty WWII leaks, rumors, and release date updates.

What Do We Know About Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is making a comeback on the PS4 and Xbox One along with releasing on the PC for the first time which has me gotten really excited! Destiny 2 is bringing a lot of changes to the game and we’re here to let you about all the big changes coming to Destiny 2.

Competitive Overhaul: 4v4 Teams

One of the biggest changes that came to Destiny 2 was the complete overhaul of the online multiple. Destiny 2 multiplayer gameplay modes like PvP will now require only 4 players! This feels like a great move on Bungie’s end to help the community increase interaction and allow players to make new friends – even if they are shooting at you.

A Story-Driven Campaign

Destiny 2 comes with a brand new campaign that is guaranteed to get anyone excited. The Red War campaign will feature a story driven narrative and from what I can tell from the gameplay reveal have an overall darker, have more cinematic, and will finally make the characters likable – hopefully.

Raise Your Banners; Destiny 2 Clans Are Official

If you’re someone that was part of a Clan in Destiny 1 then you’ll be happy to hear that Clans are officially supported in Destiny 2! Bungie is making a lot of changes in Destiny 2 to increase interaction between players and help the community grow which is something we all can appreciate. Destiny 2 will also have multiple tools that help you grow and style your clan. A reward system will also be used to distribute awards to every clan member regardless which member wins which makes it more than worth it to join a clan. Even if you don’t want to be in a clan they’ll still matter to you thanks to guided games.

Need Someone To Raid With?

Bungie has introduced a new feature called Guided Games In guided games which will allow solo players and clans to play together in strikes and raids by using the new guided games feature. You can find what player or clan needs more players to play in raids or strikes and through guided games, these players will be grouped together. The number of times I had to cancel my plans for a raid in Destiny 1 was way too high but with guided games, everyone can finally enjoy Destiny's best content. It is expected heavy penalties will be placed on players that abuse the new guided game feature. According to Bungie, there's a high chance that people that play together might want to join the clan they played with further helping the community grow and interact which is something all of us can appreciate.

A Bigger Better World

One of the biggest issues with the original Destiny game was that the world felt rather small and empty. Luckily, Destiny 2 is going to be bigger, better and have a whole lot more to do in the world. The world of Destiny 2 will be filled with treasure maps and lost sectors that will make exploring the world actually fun. There will be a lot more quests and four brand new worlds - Earth, Titan, Io, and Nessus- filled with mystery for you to explore. The best part is that you can take part in all activities without having to go to orbit!

Learn how NOT to die in The Surge - Video Game Tips and Advice

There’s a reason why The Surge is being called the Sci-fi version of Dark Souls which is simply because you die – a lot. The Surge has become infamous for its Dark Souls like gameplay and many people have pointed out the similarities between Dark Souls and The Surge.  You’ll be facing alien, robots and mutated aliens that can probably take half your health bar with a single attack. To help you out, here are some ways to how not to die in the surge.

Learn How To Time Attacks & Finishers

First and foremost, you need to learn how to time your attacks. Mashing buttons isn’t going to help you take down enemies and you have limited stamina that won’t let your spawn infinite attacks. In the start, the maximum attacks your character can make in succession is 3 – 5 times so making these count is extremely important. If you manage to bring an enemy’s health down by 80% and have at least you’re your stamina then you can pull off an awesome finisher which will leave you vulnerable to attacks from other enemies.

Hit Them Where It Hurts

If you’re thinking that by progressing in the game you’ll find a piece of armor or a power-up that will make the game a bit more forgiving, then you’re wrong. The Surge will keep grinding you until the very end but that doesn’t mean you can’t take down enemies fast rather you can take down enemies without dying from the get go by targeting their weak spots. If the enemy’s area you’re locking onto is yellow that means it’s armored, if it’s blue it means that it is undefended and takes more damage from attacks.

One Enemy At A Time

If you’ve ever played a souls game then you know how bad it can get when facing a mob of characters. This holds true for the Surge as well. If you get surrounded by enemies, even if you have to take on two enemies chances are you’re going to die. Always take enemies down one at a time and if you find yourself being pushed into a corner – run as fast as you can. Taking enemies down one at a time means you can focus on getting better armor and gain more experience.

Get Good Armor

I’ll let you know this upfront, better armor doesn’t mean you’ll be able to take down any enemy you want. No matter how strong your armor gets, there will still be enemies that can take out more than half your health in a single attack throughout the game. Getting better armor does raise the chance of survival and lets you take more hits. By farming for materials for the crafting system and an upgrade system in the early game to gain better armor which can make the game a “bit” more forgiving.

LEARN!

I can’t stress this point enough but if you want to make it through to the end you’ll have to learn the games mechanics, enemy attack patterns and boss patterns. Learning the enemy’s combo patterns is absolutely crucial unless you want to keep dying over and over again. Unlike Dark Souls, the “hit-and-run” strategy isn’t very effective since most enemies can cover the distance in a short time which is why learning enemy attack patterns is the only way you can make it through to the end.

4 reasons why Video games could be the new film

With the death of legendary film critic and video game adversary Roger Ebert, questions surrounding video games artistic validity have been popping up more and more.  What’s interesting about this is when you observe the historical lineage of both film and video games there are pretty astonishing resemblances.

This article will briefly observe the timeline of both film and video gaming, highlighting the important similarities they shared when evolving into what we know them as today.

What classic horror film would make the best video game?

... According to the social media democracy

After asking our followers what classic horror would make the best video game and compiling the Twitter and Facebook votes, the result was surprisingly one sided.

Just under 80% of the votes went to Stanley Kubrik's "The Shining".

If you are anything like us this result maybe pretty surprising (unless you're like 80% of our voters of course) I mean how would the game work? What perspective would you be playing from? What would the objectives be?

One of our twitter voters made this suggestion.

@Nellybonjelly  - "The Shining" from Jack Nicholson's POV. He starts off fighting ghosts then when he's possessed he chaises his family.

One of our facebook voters suggested this.

"You can play as each character (The dads character when he's good) like an ensemble piece. You can even have a section where you are the kid in his toy go-cart thing. You can even be the caretaker as well. Each level represents a different section of the movie."

It is impressive that a film made in 1980 would still be seen in such high regards by a whole new generation. Although, there were overwhelming amounts of people that liked the idea of playing from Jack Nicholson's perspective, which may say something pretty sinister about our young generation ... or am I just getting old?

What is it about toys and gamers?

Assassin's Creed IV Figurine Edward Kenway The Assassin Pirate

Okay maybe toy is the wrong word? "Collectables" or "figurines" are possibly more accurate phrases for people over the age of 15, but either way I'm sure you know where I'm coming from.

DIABLO III PC FAQ

Q: What is Diablo III?
A: We’re developing Diablo III to be the definitive action role-playing game and a true continuation of the Diablo series. Players will adventure through rich and varied settings, unraveling an epic storyline, engaging in combat with hordes of monsters and challenging bosses, growing in experience and ability, and acquiring items of incredible power. Diablo III will be a fitting sequel to Diablo II, with the easy interface, fast-paced action, and visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect and enjoy. It will also include many new features that will take the Diablo action-RPG experience to the next level.

Q: Which characters will be in Diablo III?
A: Players will create a male or female hero from one of five distinct classes -- barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk, or demon hunter -- each equipped with an array of spells and abilities. New customization options will provide for an even greater level of character specialization than the previous Diablo games, allowing players to create unique characters brimming with power.

Q: What can you say about the different classes?
A: The heavily armed barbarian is one of the stoic guardians of Mount Arreat. Armed with powerful abilities and moves, this plate-wearing savage wields ferocious weapons to annihilate the demonic forces threatening the world of Sanctuary.

The fearsome witch doctor hails from the terrifying Tribe of the Five Hills of the legendary umbaru race. The witch doctor is equipped with spells and alchemical powers; can summon mongrels, locust swarms, and zombie armies; and hurls fiery concoctions to annihilate any demon foolish enough to trifle with the powers of the umbaru.

The wizard is a wielder of the elements and a master manipulator of time, who combats the hordes of the Burning Hells by launching environment-shattering lightning bolts, channeling explosive arcane energies, and creating pockets of space outside of the normal flow of time.
The monk is a skilled warrior of unparalleled dexterity. Armed with speed, holy fervor, and a quest for physical and spiritual perfection, the monk becomes a deadly apparition in the heat of battle, moving faster than the eye can follow to strike down enemies with a barrage of lightning-fast blows.

The demon hunter has a sole purpose in life: to track down and destroy every last demonic being that dares to threaten humanity. Lithe and notoriously deadly with a pair of dual crossbows, the demon hunter brings an entire arsenal of gadgets and traps to the battlefields of Sanctuary.

Q: What is the story of Diablo III?
A: The game takes place on Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. Unbeknownst to most of its inhabitants, Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Most of those warriors who directly faced the armies of the Burning Hells -- and were fortunate enough to survive -- went mad from their experiences. And most of the others have buried their haunted memories and pushed the horrors from their thoughts. In Diablo III, players will return to Sanctuary to confront evil in its many forms once again.

Q:  Will players interact with any familiar faces or places in Diablo III?
A:  Yes, definitely. Players will return to Tristram and certain other locations from the previous games, and they’ll also be exploring new areas of Sanctuary. Players will also encounter several new characters as well as a number of characters from the previous games, including Deckard Cain.

Q: Will Diablo III be running on a new engine?
A: Diablo III is powered by a new graphics engine that can display characters and hordes of monsters in lush, fully 3D environments. Powerful special-effects and physics systems allow for realistic object dynamics and cloth simulation, enabling players to lay waste to the minions of the Burning Hells in spectacular ways.

Q: Will Diablo still have randomized events?
A: Diablo III builds on the random environments of the previous Diablo games by adding random scripted events and encounters throughout the game, creating a dense and exciting world alive with quests, NPCs, and dynamic encounters.

Q: What can you tell us about Battle.net?
A: Diablo III will benefit from Battle.net upgrades that will provide some exciting new features for players. Cooperative online play remains a primary focus, with multiple enhancements being planned to make connecting with your friends easier and playing together even more fun.

Q: Will I need to be connected to the Internet to play Diablo III?
A: Yes, players must be online in order to play Diablo III. Diablo III was built from the ground up to take full advantage of the new version of Blizzard's powerful Battle.net platform. Players will have access to several features through Battle.net, including an advanced achievement system as well as the Diablo III banner system; a powerful co-op and PvP matchmaking system; comprehensive stat-tracking; persistent characters that will not expire and are accessible from any computer that has Diablo III installed; a persistent Real ID friends list across multiple Blizzard games, along with cross-game chat; a shared stash accessible by all Diablo III characters on the Battle.net account; and the ability to have friends seamlessly jump in and join you at any time during your quest against the Burning Hells. Together with the security-related benefits that Battle.net provides, these Battle.net-based features are integral to the Diablo III game experience.

Q: How will PvP be implemented in Diablo III?
A: While Diablo III is designed primarily for cooperative multiplayer, we are building in support for competitive player-vs.-player gameplay as well. We’re focusing on team-based PvP in an arena setting, allowing groups of players to battle head to head in beautifully hand-crafted locations. We also plan to integrate Battle.net’s matchmaking system, a progression-based ranking system, and more.

Q: What matchmaking functionality will the game include?
A: With Diablo III, it will be easier than ever to quickly group up with your friends or other players in the community. When looking for a group, players will be able to simply broadcast an invite to all of their Real ID friends. Anyone who sees this broadcast can accept the offer with one click and automatically be added to their friend’s game.

We’ll also be including a robust public game finder for those times when you just want to play with whoever’s available on Battle.net as opposed to Real ID friends specifically. This feature will bring together players based on different factors, such as the part of the game they’re looking to play through.

Regardless of whom you group with, the game is designed to offer a seamless, fun experience. Players will be able to easily transition between single-player and cooperative play with their characters at any point during their Diablo III campaign, and the game will dynamically adjust to accommodate for additional players midstream. This means more-powerful demons to slay, more loot exploding out of corpses, and more fun on the fly. In addition, the game will offer each player their own individual loot drops, health globes will be automatically shared among players, and players will be unable to go hostile at will, all of which should eliminate unfair ambushes and other types of griefing.

For player-vs.-player matchmaking, the game will group players together in the PvP arenas based on level and skill, making for fun, closely matched PvP action.

Q: What is the banner system?
A: Think you're better than all of your friends? Your banner will prove it. The banner system will be a visual representation of the achievements players earn across all of their Diablo III characters on their Battle.net account. A player’s banner will have multiple components that can be earned through various modes of gameplay. Completing the game at different difficulty levels, defeating bosses, progressing in PvP, playing a Hardcore-mode character, and earning achievements will all unlock different ways for players to customize their banner and show off what they’ve accomplished.

Q: What is the shared stash?
A: The shared stash is an inventory-management feature that allows players to stash items in a collective storage space for all of their characters. Items in the shared stash are accessible to the player regardless of which character is currently being played.

Q: What difficulty settings will be available in Diablo III?
A:  Players will have the opportunity to play the Diablo III campaign through four successive difficulty settings: Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno. Each difficulty setting will progressively increase the challenge and will reward players with higher tiers of armor, weapons, gems, crafting recipes, and runestones. Players must complete Normal to unlock Nightmare, complete Nightmare to unlock Hell, and complete Hell and reach level 60 to unlock Inferno.

Q: Will there be a Hardcore mode?
A: Yes, players who seek the thrill of constant peril that comes with the possibility of permanent death for their character will again have that option in Diablo III. All four difficulty settings -- Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno -- will be playable in Hardcore mode. Players choosing to participate in Hardcore mode will only be able to play with other Hardcore characters and will only be able to trade items in the Hardcore version of the gold-based auction house.

Q: After completing the game on Normal, why would I want to continue playing on more difficult settings?
A: Diablo III continues the series’ tradition of offering advanced levels of challenge once players play through at Normal difficulty. Due to the game’s randomized elements, including the monsters you’ll face and the layout and content of the areas you’ll explore, you’ll have a different experience with each play-through. In addition, the challenges you’ll face will ramp up significantly at the Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno levels. Playing at these settings before your character is at the appropriate level would provide a less-than-optimal experience. Once your character is ready, though, significantly greater rewards and levels of power await you at the Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno difficulty settings.

Q: When will Diablo III be released?
A: We plan to release Diablo III in early 2012. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players. We’re aiming to release Diablo III on both Mac and Windows simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages. We’ll have more details to share about countries, languages, and specific dates as we get closer to release.

Q: What will Diablo III be rated?
A: The  Diablo III rating will be determined by the ratings boards in each region. We will announce the rating that Diablo III has received in each region as we get closer to launch.

Q:  What are the system requirements for Diablo III?
A:  We’ll announce specific system requirements at a later date.

Q: Will Diablo III include support for bots and/or mods?
A: No, for a variety of gameplay and security reasons, we will not be supporting bots or mods in Diablo III, and they’ll be expressly prohibited by our Terms of Use.

Q: Will Diablo III be offered digitally as well as at retail stores? How much will it cost?
A: As with our previous games, we do intend to offer Diablo III for purchase digitally as well as at retail. Specific details regarding pricing and availability for each region will be announced closer to release.

Please note Diablo III PC (Diablo 3 PC) will be released on 15th May 2012.

Tricks and Tips For Playing On Your Xbox 360

1. Time Limit
Shut down your Xbox 360 console every 6 hours, this will prevent your TV from presenting you with a burnt image of what you’re playing. Always shut down using Xbox Dashboard.

2. Music
You can play music from your Xbox; though do not expect it to play as loudly as any exclusive music system. You can store music files by ripping music from a CD; it reads a wide range of discs, including CD-R and CD-RW formatted discs.

3. Batteries
Make sure you keep spare batteries close at hand, or invest in a Quick Charge Kit and keep spares charging at all times, to avoid running out of batteries in your wireless controller at a crucial moment. You can also get a Wireless Controller with a Play and Charge Kit which can come in handy.

4. HDD/defected signal.
Be careful when replacing your HDD at a friend’s house. Just click push the button at the front of the HD and then pull it gently. Also, to put it back in, slide in the back end first and then bring it down to its place until it makes a click sound. While doing all these, make sure you do it all gently. Also if when plugging in your Xbox at a friend’s house and connecting to different displays, sometimes a defected signal is output resulting in no display on the screen or a mere flickering screen. If this happens, shut down the Xbox 360 console and turn it back on with the Xbox 360 controller. While the Xbox 360 console is still in the process of booting, press and hold the ‘Y’ button followed by the right trigger (RT). The video settings have now been reset and you can continue playing.

5. 'Away'
If you’re playing with friends, or just don’t want to be disturbed, you can change your status with Online Appearance with the Personal Options Button. Choose ‘away’ or ‘busy’ or even offline mode to let people online know you don’t want to play just now.

6. Microsoft Points
Xbox will ask for you to submit your credit card details, which can make it easier to buy Xbox Live Microsoft Points. However once they have your details, it’s almost impossible to take them off and set’s you up for auto-renewal. Steer clear and just buy Microsoft Points from retailers instead. Most will e-mail you the code so no waiting around for delivery.

7. Wireless
You might not need to buy an Official Microsoft Wireless N Network Adaptor for wireless internet connectivity with the Xbox 360 console. If you have a laptop with Wi-Fi nearby simple open the Control Panel, Network Connections/Network Sharing, Manage Network Connections. Upon section of Local Area Connection and Wireless Network Connection, bridge connections after right-clicking.

8. Gamertag
When you use your Xbox 360 console for the first time, you got through a set-up process of where you need to name a profile for yourself. Choose this name carefully, as if you want to change it later, it will cost you! Choose something short and simple so that other people can communicate with your easier.

9. Look After Your Xbox 360!
Above all, look after your Xbox 360 console. Keep it clean, keep it dust free, and keep it well ventilated to avoid overheating. I recommend keeping it horizontal to avoid it falling over or possible wobbling/vibrating in game play which will also avoid scratching any discs.

A few facts about PlayStation Vita PS Vita Console

The following are only a few facts, I found about the PlayStation Vita Console (PS Vita) which I discovered during my training session in Manchester organised by Sony:
  • Many called the PS Vita the PSP2 or its codename, NGP for "Next Generation Portable" until it was officially announced at the E3 2011.
  • Vita is Latin for life. Sony envisions Vita being part of its users everyday life.
  • The PS Vita features a rear touch pad, a front touch screen, all sorts of sensors and cameras.
  • If you buy a 3G-enabled PS Vita, you'll be able to connect to the Internet from anywhere and no need for a hotspot.
  • Players who want to use multiple PSN accounts on PlayStation Vita Console can do so but each account will need to be bonded to a separate memory card.
  • PSP Games can be played on PS Vita using 'UMD Passport' program which will allow users to transfer their titles to the PS Vita. This also includes some third party publishers such as Sega, Konami, Capcom and Square Enix.
  • Screenshots on the PS Vita can be snapped by pressing PlayStation and Start button together.
  • The PS Vita will be shipped without paper manuals and instead use the online PS Vita manual (Sony)
I will be talking about more features and the cool games that will be available for release on the PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) Console soon including Sound Shapes, LittleBigPlanet Vita, Sackboy and tosses, Super Stardust Delta, Uncharted and many other cool titles.
