Hidden Spy-Cam Gadget sales increase by 30%

At Hitari we like to delve into the gadget world as much as we can and one thing you really can't escape from when it comes to Gadget Tech is the extreme advances in "spycam" technology.

We sell a few products that fall into the "hidden/spycam" category, more for their geeky gadget appeal than security purposes (or the more deviant motivations that we wont mention).

Also the fact general Spy-Cam sales have increased by 30% from June 2012 to May 2013, makes it even more appealing to sell them.

Gadgets such as pens, clocks and toys are relatively justified by their sales descriptions ("to keep an eye on babysitters, maintenance workers and potential thieves") but there are a few spy-cam gadgets that are slightly more questionable.

For example:

Eye glasses cameras or tie cameras, both seem to be a little out of character for general property surveillance concerns. Obviously glasses and ties are what you take out with you, not something you plan on leaving at home in-front of potential thieves. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to imagine why people would purchase a hidden camera that they plan to take with with them in public places (unless of course they are professional spies).

But before we start jumping onto anyone that has a spy-cam gadget, lets remember that the majority of people that buy these gadgets do so (like us) because they're just cool. You can't tell me you were never envious of James Bond when he got his pick of all those spy devices?

  2. I've read you can actually buy a device that lets you know if there are spy-cams in an area. The only way to beat technology is with technology.

  3. I won't consider the glasses as a spy-cam as it is a clearly displayed gadgets on your face with buttons on it! hardly to hide anyhow.. they meant to be for capturing the moment exactly as it happens so you do not miss out on any action - great for uploading videos to youtube and evidences for accidents etc... I've had the demo from the vendor for these glasses and I really think they are really amazing especially for extreme sports, driving and cycling.

    1. Yeah I agree with that. I'm a snowboarder and there is no camera better than sunglasses micro cams to capture the action.

For a while we tried using Go Pro Hero cams, but even they got in the way too much. I doubt the government would let anything go on sale if there was not a just reason for its usage.

  4. I actually think the pen is more intimidating that the glasses and tie. You cant just leave glasses and ties around the house, you can with a pen.

  5. Trust me hidden spy cams are great for keeping an eye on workers and babysitters. Security cams are too expensive and too obvious.

  6. Banning retail spycams will make no difference. The police have had the technology for years, anyone that is remotley techy can make their own. It is about awareness more than any type of legal legislation.

  8. Porn sites now have a "Hidden Camera" section on their pages. So if you are pretending that this isn't a problem then you are only fooling yourself.

I think spycams are needed, but there is a huge problem with their abuse.

    1. most of them are done with normal video cameras just hidden. Voyeurism has been around long before spycams.

  9. I've used these glasses before and they are perfectly justified for extreme sports. There are valid non-pervy reasons to buy these glasses.

    1. I totally agree - they are perfectly visible and no issues there plus reasonably priced - I have a Police sunglasses cost me over £150 and it does even not do anything! lol

  10. The pen seems like it can only be useful for a pervert or a secret agent. At least the glasses seem to be useful for sports people.
